This is well known amongst our regular imbibers in the Speakeasy forum but many folks do not understand how a well frothed egg white can accent a drink or completely change its texture. I am also going to try the frothed egg white. I suspect his was much simpler than most would think today. My first one will be as close as I can come to what Mr. We have a really nice Kitchen Aid blender but it is no Vita Mix. I will grab some ingredients this week and hopefully post up some photos of the process. I would only drink something like this occasionally. Some of them use ice cream rather than milk. To be honest, these are really orange smoothies. The most common one I see is a can of orange juice concentrate, whole milk, sugar, vanilla, and sometimes fruit. However, drinks like this need a bit of sweetening or they just don't taste right. I do not drink a lot of soft drinks precisely because they are overwhelmingly sweet. I could see myself liking the combination. I would think they are pretty close because these formulas call for orange juice, ice cubes(crushed), egg whites(common in mixed drinks at the time), sugar, and little else but sometimes milk. So a bit of internet searching reveals a LOT of variations with a few suggesting their version is closest to the 1926 original. They are the local franchise serving Orange Julius around here. So I started thinking of the classic old quencher and my daughter suggested I make my own rather that paying what Dairy Queen wants for them. Thankfully we enjoying cool dry temperatures most of this week which is nigh unheard of around here in July. It is hotter than central hell and about as humid as the old south. Anyway, in the summer time here in Kansas it gets just a bit hot and humid. I love me gin and tonics and the occasional Pimm's Cup(It's Pimm's O'clock somewhere) but I am a moderate consumer of alcohol and do not drink daily.
